Tres Amigos

We did it in typical fashion.  Cutting red fabric, gluing sequins on sombreros and creating gigantic belt buckles from tin foil on the very Eve of Halloween.  We lost hope the weekend before Halloween wondering where we could find felt sombreros for three boys that would not cost us $45 to ship.  Then our craftiness kicked in.  We hit Goodwill, ARC and Once Upon a Child.  We left with 3 pair of dress pants, three button-down white shirts and 3 straw sombreros.  Our last stop was JoAnne fabric to find embellishments and red fabric for some very handsome cummerbunds and ties.  I waited in line, along w/ the rest of the procrastinators while Chad entertained the soon-to-be three amigos in our wagon.  The process was exhilarating and the outcome was really fun.
The photo is inspiration for our Christmas card.  The ideas are manifesting, but I know we'll be cutting paper for our homemade cards on Christmas Eve.

This outfit is my spring inspiration. I love the color combination and I love how vintage makes me feel.

Poem for June

More on the legend couple here. "House of Cash" is full of photos and poems by Johnny. One of them titled "Don't Make a Movie about Me." It's already on my Amazon Wishlist.

A Diversion of Porn

I just learned about Bookshelf Porn from this great blog I discovered: The Diversion Project.

I am in love with books. I have visions of library shelves in my house. In fact, I find a way to incorporate them into every room.

The problem is I don't read! I am a "wannabe." I have stacks upon stacks of books collecting dust. I do have a strong desire to read all of the classics (and all of my dusty books). But the truth is, at the end of the night I can barely keep my eyes open to walk upstairs to the bedroom.

Love Scandanavia

A series of events have recently occured that spiked my obsession with Scandanavia. Lately I cannot get enough and find myself taking numerous virtual trips throughout the day. I started w/ dropping the Kruegers off at the airport for a trip to Norway & Sweden (back in May). Next were the movies based on the series by Stieg Larson (The Girl with the...). Now the holidays are here and I've learned that having children brings you that much closer to your heritage.

A family trip to visit our heritage is a near priority. I'd love to immerse ourselves in the simple culture and educate our children on that lifestyle.
Why not bring it home? The construction project is incomplete, but I'll be ready to revive our interiors when it is my turn. Above are just a few images that I've found. Like the images I'll go with a mix of trad and mod. Below is the Coral light fixture that I must have by David Trubridge.

Today I was sitting at my desk at work and thought to myself, "hmmm....I should buckle up." Not because I felt so busy that I needed grounding. But because my mind is so overwhelmed that I actually thought since I was sitting still I must be in my car.
